For King and Kaiser The Making of a Prussian Army Officer. This
was recommended to me as rather dry stuff. Actually I liked
it. This is THE definitive work on the convoluted commissioning
process. I have an article under the article tab. that explains
this. The book looks and feels like a doctoral thesis. It is
super exhaustively researched. Not much to say. No pictures
just hard research. Not fir the weak but if you have an interest
you will find a younger, less educated Prussian Officer who
became part of the social elite. If you are steeped in the traditions
of American commissioning you will find a wildly different technique.
Almost eye opening but the system is so complex you get to slog
through it.
