Actually this could be a reserve or landwehr officer
from Mecklenburg-Schwerin. This could be 1st or
3rd Bn. 89th Grenadiers or the 90th Infantry. It came
from a Kube auction and he said 89th but I have no idea
how to tell. Nothing special. Mecklenburg-Schwerin
fluted spike that unscrews.
The wappen landwehr cross looks more gilt. Silver and
a bit larger would be ideal but most I have seen are
like this. Almost a standard Fürst cross. There
is some question between the colors of the cockades for
Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
They are identical. There is no difference.
There is writing on this rear brim but I cannot
decipher it. Can you?
