This is a different helmet. It is made of vulcanfiber
not leather. The surface outside the visors was lacquered
and has cracked or crazed. It has a relatively
rare kügel style and is all officer except the dome
studs. There is actually a crack in the ball that is visible
in the picture.
The wappen is a Prussian Officer reserve wappen
without the cross. There is no evidence of one having
been there. It is screwed on with nuts. There is a
metal plate on the outside and the inside of the spike
base. The outside was painted. The visor trim is
non-magnetic but has lost its color and is now gray.
The cockades are full officer of 55mm. The chinscales
are flat and held on by a split pin set of
rosettes.
